Farm Fresh: Top Ski and Snowboard Competitors Grow Big in Vermont

We grow 'em good here! The results of the world's most respected freeskiing competition series, the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour (now the Swatch Freeride World Tour), have been peppered with Vermont athletes over the past 5 years. Names such as Lars and Silas Chickering-Ayers and Ashley Maxfield have rocked the big mountain ski world with numerous podium finishes, and the common thread is their launch into stardom by Vermont based competitions.

The Ski The East Freeride Tour (STEFT) is a prime example. Four resorts initially planted the seed for the STEFT with their independent grassroots initiatives to gain exposure for east coast freeskiers, but Burlington-based media, event and independent clothing company, Ski The East, brought these efforts together to turn them into the most important competitive tour in the east coast. The STEFT allows top eastern athletes to grab a pre-qualified spot on the Freeride World Tour and pad their pockets with big winnings.

"The fact that Vermont is home to the only freeskiing competitions in the East Coast is a true testament to the expert terrain, ample snowfall and skiing talent that exists in the Green Mountain State," said STEFT co-director, Chris James. "These talented skiers have used the STEFT as a platform to gain huge milestones in 2012. Our men's champion, Colby Vavolotis, pre-qualified for the Freeride World Tour and just left to compete in Chile, and Ashley Maxfield, the 2010 women's champ, became one of only four women from North and South America to receive pre-qualifications into the 2012/13 Swatch Freeride World Tour."

Ski The East Freeride Tour (STEFT) 2013 Dates:

  •     February, 9, 2013
Unconventional Terrain Compet fashion jackets ition – Mad River Glen
  •     March 2, 2013
Southern Vermont Freeskiing Challenge – Magic Mountain
  •     March 9, 2013
Castlerock Extreme Challenge – Sugarbush Resort
  •     March 16-17, 2013
Extreme Competition, STEFT Finals – Jay Peak Resort

The STEFT tour stops are not the only place to come see top athletes throw down for big wins, or big purses. Vermont has a slew of annual and specialty competitions this season, from wicked rail jams to NCAA championships that draw the best to compete for gold and exposure. Don't miss out on seeing the newest up-and-coming athletes as well as celebrated seasoned competitors of the ski and snowboard community.

Here are some highlights:

Carinthia Freeski Open, Mount Snow Resort - March 16, 2013
This AFP Certified event is held in Carinthia's Inferno – the only terrain park on the planet to host both the Winter X Games and Winter Dew Tour slopestyle competitions. In the past it has featured top contenders like Mount Snow locals Chris and Devin Logan, siblings who shared the TNF Open 1st place podium in 2011. Devin was also the Women's AFP Overall Champion in 2012. This year the pros can land a $5,000 purse, and amateur up-and-comers can go home with tons of gear if they find their way to the podium.

Rails 2 Riches, Killington Resort – December 8, 2012
The East Coast's top rail jam is back for another year and boasts an astounding $20,000 cash purse. Top competitors in years past include Vermont's own John "LJ" Strenio, Shaun Murphy, Ian Compton and Yale Cousino. Come watch all the action as these professional and amateur skiers and riders battle it out under the lights.

The C.O.M.P. Snowboard Throwdown, Mount Snow Resort - March 9, 2013
New this year! Industry acclaimed park builder and Mount Snow Freestyle Terrain Manager, Day Franzen, is going to build an epic plaza-style venue for professional and amateur snowboarders. With a $5,000 purse on the line for pros and tons of gear from sponsors for the up-and-comers, the competition is going to be downright ridiculous.

NCAA Skiing Championships, Middlebury College, March 6-9, 2013
Middlebury College will host the 2013 NCAA Skiing Championships bringing together the best collegiate alpine and nordic ski racers in the U.S, many of whom are former World Cup competitors. The alpine races will take place at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl in Hancock on March 6 & 8, 2013, and the nordic races will be held at the Rikert Nordic Center on the Breadloaf Campus in Ripton on March 7 & 9, 2013.

Gyft Launches Service to Take “Taboo” Out of Regifting

Gyft, Inc, the newly launched service that allows customers to buy, store, send, receive and organize gift cards via mobile and social media, today announced a new service called "Gyft It" which allows users to regift their unused gift cards to anyone with an email address, mobile phone number, or in their social networks. In time for the holidays, the new offering makes it easier than ever for consumers to regift and redeem their cards from their mobile phone.

Gyft also disclosed impressive user numbers that attest to the consumer need for its comprehensive gift card management solution. In less than a month since its launch, more than $1 million in gift cards have been uploaded to the Gyft platform. Additionally, the company has added more than 100 retail partners, bringing the total number of retailers to over 300.

Gyft's new regifting service allows gift card holders to easily send the gift cards they no longer want or need without detection. Users simply upload their gift cards using the Gyft app and provide a recipient's email address, mobile phone number, or contact via their social networks. Users then can enter a personal message that will accompany the gift card, which is sent electronically or via text. The gift card information is stored for the recipient, who can use it in-store or onlin women's coats e. Anyone who downloads Gyft today at gyft.com or at Apple's App Store will receive $10 in free cards upon sign up.

"Gyft is changing the rules of regifting to make it easier, smarter, and social. By turning gift cards into electronically transferable currency, consumers no longer have to worry about the 'Happy Birthday' message printed on a physical card when they repurpose the card for a friend's housewarming gift," said Gyft COO and co-founder, CJ MacDonald. "We are continuing to deliver services our users want while finding new ways for our retail partners to ensure their cards are redeemed."

Recent reports highlight growing popularity of gift cards and regifting

Regifting, or the practice of taking an unused present and offering it to someone else in lieu of making a new purchase, is an increasingly popular means of giving friends, family, co-workers, caregivers and others gifts.

A recent Booz and Co. research report highlights the now "socially acceptable" regifting phenomenon as a growing trend prominent enough that it could impact retailers this holiday season, with nearly one-third of shoppers considering giving unused gifts. One of the reasons cited is that consumers are learning to "live with less." Other common reasons for regifting include that original gift recipients don't like or need the present, that they can't exchange it, or they do not shop where gifts were purchased.

Gift cards are an obvious choice for regifting due to their increasing popularity. In fact, according to Ceridian Stored Value Solutions Inc. (SVS), more than 82% of consumers will purchase a gift card this holiday season, while an American Express survey recently indicated that two-thirds of affluent American women hope to receive gift cards. Unlike an item of clothing that could be non-transferrable due to size or personalization, anyone can use gift cards to purchase the goods that they want or need.

To learn more about why consumers and retailers love Gyft, please visit http://www.gyft.com or the App Store to download the app.

About Gyft:

A brief history of Leicester

Dating back over 2000 years, Leicester is one of the oldest cities in England and has plenty to interest historians. The history of the origins of Leicester are, of course, lost in time. However, there are two main theories concerning the origin of the settlement now known as Leicester.

The first is that the name is derived from a Celtic one, Coriletav. This theory is supported by the name the Romans are known to have given the settlement, Ratae Corieltauvorum. The other theory is that a mythical British King, Leir, founded the settlement of Kaerleir around the same time as the Celts were supposedly in the area. King Leir, is supposed to be buried under the River Soar! fashion coats online

What we do know for sure is that around in 47 or 48 AD the Romans built a fort there and then by about 50AD a city had grown up around it. Ratae Corieltauvorum was important to the Romans as it was one of the key staging posts on a major Roman road, the Fosse Way, which linked what are now Exeter and Lincoln. Rapidly becoming a market town for local people and their produce, the settlement thrived on the trade that the Romans brought to the area. When the Romans left, moving North to conquer more of England, the settlement was well enough established to continue to prosper. The main feature still visible in Leicester of the Roman occupation is the Jewry Wall and its Bath House.

As with most of England, little is known of the history of Leicester during the Dark Ages following the departure of the Romans. The next significant event was in 680 when Leicester is known to have been given a Bishop; life in Leicester at this time seems to have been a good one with the settlement continuing to prosper. Artefacts have been found showing that Leicester, alongside its farming community, had cloth weavers, potters, blacksmiths and carpenters. The ninth century saw a down-turn in fortunes when the settlement fell to the Danish Viking invaders. The Bishop ran away which, for some canonical reason, left Leicester without a Bishop until the twentieth century.

The Norman Conquest sees Leicester mentioned in the Doomsday book as Ledcestre. This name is thought to have been derived from Ligeraceaster; a combination of Castra ?€" Camp and Ligore ?€" Legro, an early name of the River Soar. In medieval times Leicester was a city of some importance. With a population of some 1500 the Normans deemed it important enough to build a wooden fort, which in the 12th century was re-built with stone. As was custom in those days Leicester was ruled by an Earl. Unfortunately, in 1173 Robert ?€" Earl of Leicester - rebelled against the King (Henry II), causing the citizens much suffering, indeed such was the King?€?s wrath with Robert that many were killed. It was during the Middle Ages that Leicester became well known for the quality of the wool cloth it produced and the hosiery it made from the wool. At this time leather was also an important industry in Leicester, giving rise to its association with shoes and footwear.

In 1464 trade was so strong that the cities merchants managed to form a corporation and Leicester could from then on elect its own Mayor to run the town. By 1500 the population had doubled to 3000 and it continued to rise despite the frequent outbreaks of plague which could decimate the population of a town. In 1619 the town was granted a coat of arms. During the English Civil War Leicester declared itself for the Parliamentarians and was laid to siege by the Royalists in 1645 who, after breaching the town wall, again killed many of the inhabitants. At the beginning of the 18th Century the population had again doubled to about 6000 and the birth of the industrial revolution saw both the population and prosperity of Leicester flourish. By the end of the 18th Century the opening of the Soar canal in 1794 quite literally fuelled the boom in industry, by providing cheap and quick methods of transporting coal and iron into Leicester.

The first national census of 1801 gives the population of Leicester as 17,000. The town expanded rapidly and places that were once rural farms became subsumed in the city as boroughs. The Victorian era is accepted as being an age of enlightenment in terms of science and engineering. In 1832 Leicester got its first railway line and in 1857 got a line connecting it with London. Leicester got its first Public library in 1871, ten years later its first telephone exchange and in 1894 its first electric street lights. By the time of the 1901 census the population had grown to a staggering 210,000 with boot and hosiery manufacturing being the main source of employment. Civic pride must have been at an all time high during the Edwardian period when in 1919 Leicester was made a city by Royal Charter; in 1926 it regained its Bishop and a Cathedral and in 1928 had its first Lord Mayor. A period of light engineering expansion took place when the Imperial Typewriter Company set up premises in the city and between 1908 and 1950 the number of people employed in Light engineering in the city more than doubled from 6,000 to 13,500.

Leicester escaped any heavy bombing during the Second World War but a slum-clearance programme was instigated in 1945 to rid the city of much of the old housing built in the boom years of the previous century. At this time there were influxes of Jewish, Latvian and Polish refugees into the city. These were followed in the 1950s by West Indian immigrants and then in the 1960s the population was swelled by the arrival of Asian immigrants. The last major influxes of immigrants were mainly Indians who had been forced to leave Uganda in the early 1970s. Recently there has been a small community of Somali refugees arriving in the city, apparently drawn by its free and easy attitude and the number of Mosques within its boundaries.

Horse Breeds: Budyonny, Byelorussian Harness, Camargue Horse, Campolina Horse

*BUDYONNY*

Derived from the country previously known as the Soviet Union, the Budyonny is a br women's jackets eed of horse using the combination of the English Thoroughbred and the Russian Don. During the Russian Revolution a hero by the name of Marshal Budyonny developed the Budyonny horse. The breed was originally created as a riding horse for the military, thus the explanation as to why the breeding was originally performed within a Rostov stud farm for the military.

The Budyonny horse typically has a height of somewhere between 15.1 hands and 16 hands. Their coloring can be varied from black, brown, gray, or bay, but most commonly found in a chestnut color. The Budyonny horse is a prime choice for equestrian events, jumping, light carriage, or as a riding horse. This breed makes easy and free gaits, which attributes the horse to being the prime choice for various events.

Many people choose this horse for its mild temperament, its energy, its ease of training, as well as the muscled body and solid build. Severe cold or heat does not seem to effect this breed of horse too much as it can adapt itself to a variety of different intense conditions.

*BYELORUSSIAN HARNESS*

A mixture of several different breeds forms the Byelorussian Harness horse. Of the influences there are breeds of Brabancon, Ardennes, and the Norwegian Dole. Of the three, the Norwegian Dole carries the strong of influences. Typically, the Byelorussian Harness is used in sandy soil or swampy areas of wood, as well as meat production and milk.

The Byelorussian Harness has several distinct characteristics that make it a beautiful breed of its own. As a medium sized horse, it has a well-muscled neck, an average head, and average length throughout, it has a wide, deep chest. It's beautiful, thick main and tail make this breed of horse. Stallions generally weigh 540 kilograms and have a 21.5 cm bone girth, 184 cm chest girth, 163 cm oblique body length, and height of 153 cm at withers. Mares are slightly smaller weighing anywhere between 490 and 500 kilograms.

Colors are of the Byelorussian Harness horse are typically light bay, chestnut, bay, or dun. These are strong and relatively fast horses. They can pull or carry a load of 600 kilograms. High fertility make this breed a popular one, typically, the mares can reach the 26 years of age and still remain highly fertile.

*CAMARGUE HORSE*

The Camargue horse originates from the Quanternary Sea native the Solutre horse. The Camargue prefers marshy land and is very resistant to lack of a stable, bad weather, and harsh conditions.

General characteristics of this special breed of horse include its use as mainly a saddle horse in rustic and hard terrain. Adult Camargue horses typically carry a coat that is of a pale grey color. Adults can weigh anywhere between 300 kilograms and 400 kilograms, with a height of somewhere between 1.35 meters and 1.45 meters.

Foal Camargue horses are generally born in the spring and summer months, between April and July. They typically born with a white blaze marking on their forehead, and with a body color of darker grey or black. These horses have most always been used as a saddle horse, though in some cases for leisurely riding as well.

*CAMPOLINA HORSE*

The Campolina Horse originated within Brazil in an area called Entre Rios de Minas. A man named Cassiano Campolina developed the breed in 1857. Though, according to research and history the Campolina breed was not really developed until later in 1870. This began with a single mare of black colored called "Medeia". After breeding with this mare, which was a Brazilian horse with a stallion that was an Andalusian, the result was a foal called Monarca, which is thought to be the founding member of the Campolina Horse.

However, though Monarca, part Andalusian and part Barb Blood is considered the founding member of the breed, there are many other breeds of horses that has significantly influenced the breed altogether.

These breeds include the Rio Verde, which is a breed from the Mangalarga Machador line, as well as the Yanke Prince, which is an American Saddle Horse breed. The Teffer, a Holsteiner breed, the Golias a quarter Clydesdale Breed, and the Menelike, an Anglo-Normand breed all contributed to the Campolina Breed formation.

Summer is Here. Organize Your Kids and Activities

Memorial Day Weekend marks the symbolic, if not official, start of summer and it's finally here! After a long, crazy winter filled with snow, sleet, ice, and rain, everybody is ready to haul out the flip-flops and blow up the inflatable pool. We're lucky to have a stretch of time to relax, but if you have kids at home, you know summer can be as frustrating as it is fun. If you already signed the kids up for camps, swimming lessons, or sports leagues in the Spring, you're halfway there. Now all you need is to be armed with some sunny and rainy days ideas that don't require lots of time or money but still keep the kids involved and entertained.

Get out of the Rainy Day Rut:

1. House Movie Party.

Lots of people tend to head straight for the movie theater on rainy days, so why not head to the video store, call up a few neighborhood kids, heat up some popcorn, and have your own movie party right at home. The kids will love seeing their favorite movie with their friends in the comfort of their own home, but you'll love how much money you saved. Has anyone checked the prices for movie theater popcorn lately?!

2. Fort Fun.

Ok, moms, this is the day to give up on the perfect house and let the kids take out all of the beach towels, blankets, and pillows from the linen closet, bedrooms, and living room. Kids love forts. They could spend hours in them (a bonus for you!). Let them make a total mess of the living room, let them eat in their forts, and even let them sleep in them if they want. One day of a messy house is worth it to avoid screaming and cranky kids.

3. Talent Show.

As you're drinking your morning coffee and the weather report looks increasingly worrisome, surprise the kids with a talent show day. Let them create the show, make props with crayons, construction paper, and whatever else you may have in the house, and rehearse before the big event later that day when Daddy gets home. Kids love nothing more than being the center of attention.

4. Hit the Web.

There are plenty of great websites that have downloadable crafts, coloring pages, and other activities. All you need is an Internet connection and a printer and you'll have hours of artistic fun. One of the best sites around is www.woojr.com.

5. Be a Puddle Jumper.

When all else fails, grab some rain boots and a rain coat and run around outside. Jumping in puddles is truly one of life's simple pleasures and since kids are usually told not to get wet or they'll "ruin their clothes" or "catch a cold," the kids will revel in breaking the rules.

Beyond the Beach/Sunny Day Satisfaction:

1. Reverse the Thinking.

Most people visit museums or nature centers when the weather is cold and rainy, but why go when it's the most crowded and you can't really see the exhibits. Instead, go visit on a sunny day and you'll likely feel that you have the whole place to yourself.

2. Biking.

Is there anything more indicative of summer than hopping on a bike and tooling around? If your kids aren't big enough to ride alone or can't keep up, invest in one of those seats that straps to the back of your bike or a little trailer that rides behind. It's a great way to enjoy the day and fit in a little group exercise.

3. Make your own Popsicles.

Anybody can buy popsicles at the grocery store, but there is something particularly delicious about a popsicle that you made yourself, and there is nothing easier! Pull out your ice cube trays and let the kids fill them with their favorite juice (outside, of course!). They might just have more fun licking the sticky off themselves as they do making them!

4. Sprinkler Fun.

Sometimes it truly is the simple things th women's coats at are the best. This is as simple as it gets, but kids could spend hours running, jumping, and splashing through the sprinkler. You might even get inspired to run through it yourself.

5. BBQ with Buddies.

Many kids get the chance to have friends over for lunch or an afternoon snack, but it feels like a really big deal to have friends over for dinner. Let them invite as many as you can feed and fire up the grill for a fun summer evening. After dinner, toast marshmallows on the grill or have a firefly catching contest. It is the old-fashioned fun that they'll never forget.

Pet Nibbles: Feeding Your Pet The Right Diet

As the festive season sets in ever and we start crossing items off the gift-list for Christmas, it's time to give a thought to our treasured pets and to ensure that we're making sure we're getting them the right food and pet supplies to meet their dietary needs.

How do we make sure we're getting the right food for our pet though when there's so much choice out there? Well, there are some simple guidelines to follow.

As with humans, dogs have differing needs in quality, quantity and type of fashion coats dog food and requirements change with age. What serves as a good diet for an energetic young puppy won't be suited to an older, senior dog.

Did you know that a healthy puppy burns up to three times more calories a day than an adult dog? Or that while big dogs have bog appetites, smaller dogs have faster metabolism and will burn more energy, requiring more calories each day?

As puppies are smaller their mouths are smaller and, accordingly, the right diet for your puppy will need to be of smaller kibbles they can chew easier. An adult dog will need a diet that balances six major nutrient groups: fats and oils, proteins, minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates and water.

Dogs require less calories from their diet the older they get to prevent them becoming overweight, older dogs are more prone to weight issues. Protein is still essential though, to maintain a good body condition and muscle mass.

Part of the feeding routine should also include where and how your dog is fed. For example, avoid feeding your dog before it travels in the car as, like humans, they can be prone to car-sickness. Feeding a dog an hour before or after exercise is also to be avoided, this could leave to stomach dilation and torsion which is life threatening in dogs.

Unsurprisingly, cat food plays a huge roll in the health of a cat. From reducing the amount of furballs to ensuring a glossy coat, what your cat eat affects every aspect of its life and as the weather gets colder it's even more important to make sure your cat is well fed.

Within their diet, cats require a minimum of forty-one nutrients all in the correct proportion. Nutrients include amino acids, fats, vitamins and minerals and are divided into protein, carbohydrates, fats and vitamins and minerals.

Meat, fish and some plant ingredients and oils provide protein and fats. The proteins are building blocks for healthy skin, nails, muscles, tendons, ligaments and cartilage and play an important part in hormone production. While it has negative connotations, fat is essential for cell membranes and helping your cat maintain body temperature.

Carbohydrates are essential for promoting the proper digestion and movement of food in a cat. Vitamins and minerals aid bone growth, blood clotting, energy production and oxidant protection.

When selecting your cat's food make sure that it contains a balanced amount of each nutrient group. Cat food also needs to be palatable or your cat simply won't eat it. Your cat should always have access to clean water too, not just to take the taste of cat food away - after all, they like it - but water is the most important nutrient for them.

Keep an eye on your pet's eating habits; like people they're not always hungry but if they're not eating all their food regularly this may be a sign that you're feeding too to much or that it may be ill. Though don't crowd your pet during meal time. Taking the bowl from your cat or dog can lead to anxiety and aggression.

Your dog or cat should also leave you alone while you're eating. No matter how big the puppy-dog eyes get or how much your cat purrs and rubs against your leg, avoid feeding your pet from your plate or table or you'll be encouraging begging, barking and drooling (in the dogs, that is) and general attention seeking.

It may seem like a fair bit to remember but it's really very little when you consider how much joy our pets bring to us.

How to Recognize and Avoid Vaginal/Yeast Infection

Vaginal expulsion can be a discomforting and/or create an uncomfortable problem. Learn the symptoms of a vaginal and/or infection, to see if it is in fact a vaginal yeast infection. Educate yourself on how to distinguish vaginal yeast infection, from other type?€?s of vaginal concerns.

Most women will experience a yeast infection at some point in their lives; many will experience them frequently. They need to be able to recognize and avoid vaginal/yeast infection The most common infections are yeast infections and are easily treated. It is always advised to see a doctor first, especially if this is your first infection. There are many over-the-counter creams available for yeast infections. A doctor will prescribe stronger versions if necessary, and if your infection is bacterial instead of yeast, you will need a prescription. Abnormal discharge can have these characteristics: clumpy white 'cottage cheese' appearance, heavy yellowish appearance, greenish-yellow appearance with 'fishy' odor, or very liquid-y. See a doctor if you have these symptoms.

Stay hydrated; drink plenty of water every day. The vagina can become dehydrated right along with the rest of the body and this can create a di women's jackets fferent order and different levels of discharge. Once you become dehydrated, you become susceptible to a urinary infection which can lead to a yeast infection, and vice versa.
Do not to wear clothing that is very tight. While they may look really great on you, it may cause more heat, moisture and rubbing. This includes wearing a wet bathing suit for long periods of time especially during the summer. Some women have more infections when using hot tubs; this is because of the hot water temperature and bacteria in the water.
Try wearing cotton lined underwear. Synthetic fabrics may often irritate the natural moisture levels in the vagina. If necessary to stay dry, change your underwear during the day. At night, sleep without underwear, if possible. If you wear a thong, consider changing to regular underwear. The rubbing from your anus spreads to your vagina and can cause bacteria infections. You might also consider a panty liner that fits a thong that you can change frequently during the day. Wash underwear with hot water each and every time to kill bacteria. You may also want to stop using fabric softeners when washing your underwear as they can cause allergies or irritation which can lead to infection. Knowing how to recognize and avoid vaginal/yeast infection, will put you way ahead in the cure process.

Finally, understand that some women have more discharge than others; it is a perfectly normal part of being female. Change your underwear as you need, or use a panty liner and change that frequently during the day to stay dry. Above all stay dry.
Always see a doctor if you suspect any infection or notice changes to your normal discharge. These can include: a fishy smell, itching, burning or irritation along with discharge. Get treatment early, there is no need to prolong your discomfort by thinking it will 'just go away". A yeast infection, like almost all others, maybe transmitted during sexual contact. If you are sexually active and suspect an infection, your partner(s) may have an infection (yeast or bacterial) that they haven't noticed. A man 's symptoms can be different than a woman 's . An untreated infection from a man may infect/affect you. Excessive discharge may also indicate a STD. Be sure to get both a pap smear and blood drawn. We can not repeat this enough. See your doctor, if you suspect problem.

Here are some tips; I have found work well for my wife. They work in conjunction with the above on how to recognize and avoid vaginal/yeast infection.
The vagina is first and foremost a self-cleaning organ. A discharge is a normal and natural method for the body to rid itself of unwanted agents, items, etc.
Nearly all women have some amount of discharge that will be noticeable on their underwear at sometime in their life.
All women are not created equal, in that they produce various amount discharges.
Vaginal expulsions are generally heavier when one is younger and may become reduced as one ages. Often when a woman becomes older will have a dryness problem, especially during menopause.
Keeping the vaginal area dry and clean can lessen the commencement of an infection. In addition, frequent washing or done too roughly can lead to annoyance which can then lead to yeast infection.
After using the toilet, never wipe back to front. Always go from front to back. Back to front can bring bacteria from the anus into the vagina and urethra which may often cause infection.
Once you learn to recognize vaginal/yeast infection you notice very quickly any discharge that appears unusual in texture or color, or a discharge which seems to have an odor and/or irritation, see your doctor, ASAP. Always, always see your doctor when you suspect a problem. Then after you know for sure what you?€?re dealing with you can treat yourself, naturally.

Hot Stamping Foil Adhesion

Hot stamping foil adhesion is measured in a number of different ways, and there is a lot of misconception about what each test really measures. Take the simple scratch test for example. Is that a definitive adhesion test or simply a measure of the hardness of one?€?s fingernail?

In fact, most adhesion tests carried out are comparative rather than a true measure. If you have two foils on the same substrate, both blocked at the same time, then you can test their comparative resistance to your fingernail, assuming that you do not subconsciously scratch harder on that you want to fail. This is more common than you might think, which is why a true sc women's coats online ientific measure of adhesion is preferred.

However, such measurements are rare, and there is nothing that could realistically be routinely carried out by a trade blocker or printer. Even a rub or abrasion tester is not testing adhesion as much as the hardness of the foil surface. The so-called ?€?Scotch tape?€? test is generally the most widely used, but there are so many variables involved, that again this is normally not definitive unless exactly the same tape is used each time.

Apart from the adhesion of the foil itself, the amount of wax release applied can significantly affect the adhesion and abrasion resistance of a hot stamping foil as it is tested. Hot foil can be made using a wide variety of waxes, and is not present in the form of a coherent separate layer. The wax layer is generally applied by direct gravure, and is only around 0.005 gsm (grams per square metre) when dry.

The solvents used in the subsequent lacquer or top coat are generally fairly aggressive, and even though tend not to dissolve the wax when cold, will invariable strike through the wax layer immediately on coating, and also in the drying tunnel. The result is a wax rich resin layer at the carrier film interface (usually polyester) that becomes progressively more wax deficient the deeper into the lacquer layer ?€" i.e. the further the distance from the polyester where the wax layer was originally applied, the less wax will be intermixed with the resin.

After blocking, the wax in the resin tends to rise to the surface. Although some wax will be at the surface of the foil immediately on hot stamping, this will increase with time as it migrates through the lacquer layer to the surface. Hence, abrasion resistance improves with time and your test results will therefore vary according to how long after blocking you test the foil.

The same could be true of the Scotch tape test: the surface will become increasing less receptive to the tape as the wax concentration increases. What you are measuring, then, is the adhesion of the tape to the wax-rich surface relative to the adhesion of the hot foil to the substrate it is blocked to.

There is in fact a lot more to it than just that, but it indicates that what you might have thought was a simple test is, in fact, not so straightforward. There are several other properties of a hot stamping that affect its perceived adhesion, too many to discuss in this article. However the principles involved are interesting and worth finding out because they can shed light on some of the problems you might have encountered on your press.

Sometimes understanding why a problem occurs can give you an idea of the solution. However, I will finish of with a few questions that have little to do with solutions but more to do with the testing itself. How many people go around testing their greetings cards or wine labels with a piece of sticky tape? Is your testing related to the end use of the foiled article, or carried out only because it is in the testing specification?

Good hot stamping foil adhesion is frequently needed, but would you sacrifice performance and speed in order to use a hot foil that stands up well to a piece of sticky tape after foil blocking?

The Shih Tzu Is A Constant And Loving Companion

What sets the Shih Tzu apart from other breeds? The Shih Tzu is mysterious and charismatic. Its charm, self confidence and alert countenance is certainly very alluring. The Shih Tzu is highly intelligent. The Shih Tzu's outgoing personality, big eyes with that warm and trusting expression is so hard to resist. Is a Shih Tzu going to be the right dog for you?

First of all, the Shih Tzu want to be with their people more than anything else in their lives. They do not do well in lonely kennels or when left alone for long periods of time. They have been bred for centuries to be a quintessential companion, always at your side, always in your presence craving love and attention. If you sit down, your Shih Tzu will want to immediately sit with you or an even better spot in the Shih Tzu's mind, would be to jump into your lap and lavish you with kisses. Your Shih Tzu will want you to pet and snuggle him. If you are eating, your Shih Tzu will either beg you for a bite or sit waiting patiently until you give him a bite. In essence, if you want a constant loving companion by your side at all times, the Shih Tzu is probably right for you. If you have lots of time to stay home or are able to take your Shih Tzu along wherever you go, the Shih Tzu is probably right for you. By lots of time, I mean especially enough time to groom, socialize and exercise your Shih Tzu. The lifespan of a Shih Tzu is typically 11 to 15 years.

Shih Tzu are usually active, busy, curious and creative. You will need a variety of toys to help keep the Shih Tzu's mind occupied. You will need a fenced-in yard or an area where y women's jackets ou are able to walk your Shih Tzu for exercise. Shih Tzu are very good natured, but also very vivacious. Shih Tzu have a good sense of humor and would rather clown around than to be serious. Always keep in mind that Shih Tzu were bred to be ornamental or decorative pieces to have around, not for any particular work purpose. A Shih Tzu thinks just their presence is enough and anyone should be pleased to just be in their presence. They are proud and arrogant with a slight stubborn streak. A Shih Tzu has a mind of its own.

The Shih Tzu is a palace-dweller. For thousands of years the Shih Tzu had addresses in such places as imperial palaces, chez Dalai Lama, and with top political figures and dignitaries homes. It was a status symbol of wealth and dignity to own a Shih Tzu. To your small Shih Tzu companion, your safe and cozy home is its palace. Give your Shih Tzu a comfortable place to sleep (and I might add, the Shih Tzu discovers quite quickly that "your pillow" is the most comfortable spot to sleep), excellent care, high quality food and a loving family. Your Shih Tzu could not be happier. Although their stubborn streak may appear from time to time, the Shih Tzu can be trained quite successfully. Just use consistency and patience with your training lessons.

The Shih Tzu is strictly a house pet. Shih Tzu cannot tolerate harsh weather, either too cold or too hot, especially the heat. Shih Tzu need good ventilation, fresh air and a cool, protected area in warmer climates.

Shih Tzu require careful daily grooming. Most of the hair that is shed from a Shih Tzu's coat will end up in the brush if you brush daily. They do very little shedding elsewhere. Shih Tzu are also less allergenic than most other breeds, which makes the Shih Tzu an ideal companion for adults or children who suffer from allergies and cannot house other types of pets.

Sit Up Buddy - Training Your Dog To Sit Like You

The trick of sitting up is easily taught to small dogs, but should try not be included in a big dogs education, as it is difficult for them to preserve their balance.

The training of sitting up is one of the first tricks to teach and forms the groundwork for many other dog tricks. To train a dog to sit up, prepare some treats as a reward, and set your dog on his haunches in a corner, so that he cannot fall either backward or sideways and has very little or no space to lose balance.

Keep him from pitching forward by holding one hand under his chin and with the other hand hold the treat above his nose and keep repeating distinctly and deliberately say, sit up. Do not make him sit up too long at any one time, but repeat the lesson frequently and reward him often with plentiful of praise and treats.

During his first lesson he will require considerable assistance from your hand to prevent him from pitching forward, but as he gets control of the balancing muscles and understands what you want, he will depend less and less upon your hand to keep him in position and you can gradually render him less assistance until you will only have to keep one hand in position two or three inches from his neck or chin, so as to be ready to prevent him pitching forward; later on you can withdraw this hand entirely and simply hold the treat just above the level of his head.

By constant practice he will sit up well after you set him up; then he should be set up against the wall, so as to afford him a support for his back only, and after he has been well schooled at this and can keep his position easily, practice him against chair legs, cushions or other objects that afford him less and less assistance, until finally he learns to preserve his balance and sits up without anything to lean against.

During all these lessons the words sit up have been impressed upon his mind by frequent repetition, and now comes the final lesson to teach him to sit up as soon as he hears the words, and the chances are, if he has been diligently drilled, i women's jackets t will be necessary only to call him out in the room, show him a treat, hold it up a suitable distance from the floor, say sit up and he will do so, when he should be given the treat while still in position.

The only necessity to perfection is to practice him several times a day until he will sit up at the word and without being shown a reward; that can be given him after he has obeyed.

You have now a foundation for many other tricks. He can be taught to beg by moving your hand up and down just in front of his paws, which he will move in unison with yours. He can also be taught to salute by bringing one paw up to the side of his head, or to hold a wooden pipe in his mouth, or to wear a cap on his head or other articles of wearing apparel.

In teaching a dog to submit to being dressed up, do not attempt to get him to wear too many things at once; try him at first with a cap and after he becomes accustomed to that you can put on a coat and gradually accustom him to the other clothing articles.

Enjoy teaching your dog the sit up trick and most importantly have fun along the way!

WOMEN... Appointed To Be Fathers of Christ's Gospel (1) + Gospel Truth For Women In Ministry

FIRST, A BRIEF, SPECIAL NOTE TO MEN AND YOUNG PEOPLE!

A man reading this has spiritual discernment and wisdom. Sex makes no difference. --- "In Christ there is no male or female."

Also, young people are often disregarded as being immature. In gospel revelation, age and education make NO difference. In fact, both age and education can be negative factors -- while being young can be a big benefit!

+ + + + +

To our natural, human minds, it seems like a contradiction to refer to women as 'FATHERS of the gospel.' This is because we see things in very limited ways. But women are included in Paul's statement about 'fathers of the gospel' (I Cor 4:15). As the gospel transforms our minds and hearts, we see much more clearly. We see through God's eyes. "He who has eyes to see, let him see."

THERE IS DIVISION IN THE RANKS

It is only in religion, which includes most modern-day church structures, that were never envisioned by Jesus and Paul, that a division is made between men and women. THE GOSPEL makes no such distinction. In modern church hierarchy, it is MAN who places man at the top of the religious totem pole.

Yes, there is some division of authority and responsibility, even in the natural, in marriage. It also existed in the natural state of society in the ancient Jewish culture. Here, women had basically no rights, and could even be stoned if they committed adultery, etc. Women were viewed as being a man's property. This condition still exists today in many religions, and many parts of the world.

This is what went on in this country until just 50 years ago, when the women's lib movement began to change. You see, this nation had it all together philosophically: "We are all created equal, with certain inalienable rights. . ." Of course this didn't apply to the native Americans. Nor did it apply to Blacks. Nor did it apply to women. Women couldn't even vote until about 90 years ago.

Jesus and Paul actually gave honor and credibility to women. I will talk about this more in a later message.

HOW DIVISION IN THE RANKS STARTED

There has been strain and strife in relationship since the Garden of Eden. After the fall, we are told that Eve's desire was for relationship with her husband Adam. But his desire was to RULE her (Gen 3:16). Who predicted this predicament? GOD! When one is bent on ruling, and the other is bent on relationship, there is going to be strife, conflict and alienation. Read "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus."

And like all solution on the face of the earth, only GOD has the solution to this. Solutions aren't found in most church government.

Solutio women's jackets ns are found in relationship with him, not in rules or theologies created by the mind of MAN. In both divine and human associations, the more the rules, the less the relationship.

God says that in Christ, sex doesn't matter (Gal 3:28).

WOMEN MAKE BETTER 'FATHERS' THAN MEN

This is not a true statement across the board, but it is more often true than not. I haven't always been a good 'Father of the Gospel,' as Paul calls us. I was an 'Instructor in Christ' (I Cor 4:15). In fact, Paul refers to '10,000' instructors in Christ vs. 'one' father of the gospel. Today, it often seems like this to me too!

Instructors want to RULE. Fathers promote RELATIONSHIP. This is why most women make better 'fathers' than men.

The gospel is born in the heart, not in the head. It changes hearts. It promotes unity and oneness, beginning with God himself. It proclaims acceptance, forgiveness and love — followed by peace, joy and grace. These are things of the heart. These are things dealing with relationship — first in relationship between God and us, and then between us and others.

Instructors impart out of their intellect, and their focus is principles, precepts, rules, systems and formulas.

THE GOSPEL IS THE GREAT EQUALIZER

The gospel totally levels the playing field. It makes us ALL equal, irregardless of sex, age, race, education, or anything else human. You see, the gospel is the testimony of God. It is the revelation of God's thoughts, ways and will — that are far about ours (Isa 55:8-9). But we CAN know God's thoughts, will and ways, because this is what the gospel reveals to us. It should transform our minds (Rom 12:2).

In the gospel, only God — and his thoughts, ways and will matter. Human thoughts and ways are referred to as FOOLISHNESS!

The power of the gospel comes by means of receiving and believing what God reveals to us (Rom 1:16-17). Anyone can receive revelation, if they have ears to hear — or eyes to see. it does not depend on sex, race, age, education, etc. God doesn't care if we're a man or a woman — or if we're 13 or 103.

God looks at our heart, not at our head (I Sam 16:7). God says, "David is a man after my own heart" (Acts 13:22). This is our goal!

God doesn't care if we are a high school drop-out, or if we have a trail of letters after our name. In fact, gospel truth often comes easier to someone who is a high school drop-out than to one with a string of letters. Paul says they are "ever learning, but never able to come into a knowledge of the truth" (II Tim 3:7). This applies to so many in the church who are academic 'Instructors in Christ.' They can't grasp the SIMPLICITY of Christ (II Cor 11:3). Their thoughts are complicated. This was how I functioned for about 15 years. I'm a lawyer who is educated well beyond my intellect. But then Father got hold of my HEART.

This is only the first of what will be many articles. If you miss any of them, go to my Gospel Coach webpage and you will find them as they become available. But I write 'Gospel Tips from The Gospel Coach,' and other types of articles as well.

Let Father minister the truth of what has been said to you. We are all equal, and we are all one — at least in God's sight, and he's the only one who really matters. We have different positions and callings in man's understanding of God's Kingdom, but this doesn't mean the foot is any less than the head. Try walking without one.

Hebrews does say that we are to submit to those who have the 'rule' over us. But who is this? To God, it's not a MAN-appointed position created by a church or denomination. It's a person who is a servant of all (Mark 9:35, 10:44). It's 'a father of the gospel,' who like David, leads you to the heart of God. This person is not one of the '10,000 Instructors In Christ' -- a teacher of theology (MAN'S ideas about God). They are a father of faith in the gospel, -- and women often make the best fathers. "The just shall live by faith."

Unique Characteristics Of The American Mastiff

The American Mastiff is a very unique dog, and well beloved by their owners. They have some very distinct characteristics and traits. Mastiffs are very powerful, massive dogs, and one of the largest dog breeds. They have a very heavy and wide head that is rather rectangular in shape. The ears sit high on their heads and are rounded in shape. Their eyes are an amber color and are preferred to be dark. Their medium sized muzzle has a black mask and is well proportioned to their head. The American Mastiff is the product of an outcrossing, in the early development of the breed, between the English Mastiff and the Anatolian Mastiff. This also produced a drier mouth than many of the other Mastiff breeds because their lower lip line is tighter and more defined. The selective breeding that followed kept this trait in this breed of Mastiff dog.

The American Mastiff has a very strong neck which is slightly arched, with a black nose and a scissored bite. They have a rounded, broad chest which descends down to the level of the elbows. Their ribs spread back broadly and extend a long distance into their straight and muscular back. Their muscles are well defined down their forelegs which are straight and set wide, as are their hind legs. They have huge feet and arched toes. The tail is long and thick.

The American Mastiff dogs develop in a variety of colors including fawn, brindle and even apricot. Most puppies are born dark in color and tend to lighten up as they get older. Some hang onto their darker color while others actually become a very light fawn color by the time they turn one year old. In this breed of Mastiff dog, white markings on their chin or nose, and chest and feet are acceptable. They are generally calm and quiet dogs. They are loyal and loving dogs who are not usually aggressive unless they need to protect their masters.

Though you would not think so at first glance, the American Mastiff is very good with children and makes a great women's coats family dog. They are, again, not known for being aggressive unless they are in a circumstance where their family, and their family's children, are threatened. They will become intimidating defenders in this case, and even courageous. They are loyal to their owners, and are gentle companions, patient and loving, especially with children.

The males can weigh between 160 and 200 pounds. The females range from 140-180 pounds. And their height usually ranges from 28 to 36 inches. Because they are so large, they need to be handled by an owner who can be firm and strong in their leadership.

Even though American Mastiff dogs are of the largest breeds, they don't tend to be plagued by many of the health problems that are common in other larger breeds. In fact, they are generally healthy and happy dogs. And, contrary to some other large breeds, this breed of Mastiff dog will get along perfectly well in an apartment as long as they are exercised daily. This can be a daily walk or short run. Usually even a small fenced yard will do just fine as they tend to e a little on the lazy side as they get older.

Though they probably wouldn't choose to exercise daily, a steady routine will keep them more fit and happier. It is good for their mental and physical health to be out and walking regularly. And, of course, a leashed walk in public is best. The American Mastiff generally lives 10 to 12 years.

Their grooming is easy due to their short-haired and smooth coat. They can easily be shampooed and shined by drying them after bathing, then brushing their coat with a brush with firm bristles. Though they do shed, it is average, not out of control.

This dog breed is not for everyone, but for the right owner or family, they are loving, and loveable companions, which can be surprisingly docile and gentle.

Looking At The 12 Different Body Shapes According To Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine

Making their television debut in 2000 for Granada television and being thrown into the limelight a year later when their popular What Not To Wear Show was broadcast for the first time in 2001, Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine have become household names up and down the country.

Helping thousands of women to feel better about themselves (in excess of 5,000, according to an interview with Nicole O'Neill on 6 October 2007 on MSN) by understanding what women's clothes they should wear, they devised a list of 12 different body shapes, 8 more than the traditional apple, banana, pear and hourglass and published them in the Daily Mail newspaper in 2007.

According to the two fashion advisors, the 12 different female body shapes are as follows.

Apple. Starting off with a traditional body shape, Trinny and Susannah explain that the shape is generally round, with any excess weight being gained around the stomach area. The primary positive point of this body shape is the breasts and womens clothes should be purchased to highlight this area.

Hourglass. Big breasts are a plus for hourglass women, too, but they have a slimmer waist than the apple shape. The main problems are often under the hips and around the bum, as these areas tend to gain weight quickest.

Skittle. A longer version of the more traditional pear shape, a woman with a skittle body shape will have a long body, be slim on top and have large thighs.

Vase. Similar to a skittle in terms of the vase being a slight change to an already existing body shape, the vase is simply an elongated version of the hourglass. Not quite as large on the breasts or hips, they do not have as many curv fashion jackets es in general, being slightly flatter in the areas where an hourglass is curvy.

Cornet. The cornet body shape is one that a lot of catwalk models posses and is, in essence, a very slim and athletic one. Curves are not prominent with a cornet body shape, but your slim legs and skinny waist are your assets.

Lollipop. With large breasts, slim arms and legs and a smooth stomach, the main problem with a lollipop shape is that as the frame is quite small, it is easy to look top heavy because of the large breasts. The traditional banana body shape is somewhere between this and the cornet shape.

Column. Tall and somewhat stocky are the characteristics here. Long arms, legs and torso are primary features, with the issue being that weight is distributed on your torso to make you look boyish.

Bell. Often the body shape of petite women, large bums with comfortable thighs and waist play the main role with a bell body shape, with most other parts of the body being slim.

Goblet. Broad shoulders and a large back are the key points with the goblet shape, which rest beautifully on very long, slim legs with perfect ankles.

Cello. Similar to both a goblet and a vase, a cello body possesses broad shoulders with large breasts, thighs and bum. They are not overly large, however and almost everything appears to be in proportion.

Pear. Another traditional body shape, the pear shape is often made up of a long, slim torso with shorter, larger legs. The whole upper body has very little problems, with the waist down causing the most issues.

Brick. This shape is one that most people who feel that they do not have a body shape actually have. Relatively boyish in its appearance, there are generally no major accentuations on the body and womens clothes should be purchased to help emphasize what curves are apparent.

Weimaraner Puppy And Dog Information

The Weimaraner is a dog that needs plenty of exercise and a place to run. Try to avoid running them after a meal as they may develop a life threatening bloat. This breed of dog will do better with three smaller meals a day rather then two or even one large meal. This is a very protective dog and can be a one person or one family dog. They may not be trusted with other pets due to their strong prey instinct. They may fight other canines. They need to be socialized with children and very young children are in danger of being knocked over but this athletic, highly active dog. They have a coat that is very pleasing to the touch. As a reminder, never leave a child unsupervised with a puppy or dog.

*Approximate Adult Size. The approximate adult size (two years old or older) of the male Weimaraner is 24 to 27 inches to the withers (highest point of the shoulder) and 55 to 70 pounds. The female ranges from 22 to 25 inches to the withers and 50 to 65 pounds.

*Special Health Considerations. Most dog breeds have certain inherited health problems associated with that specific breed and the Weimaraner is no exception. This disease list is an informative guideline only. Other diseases may also be significant threats, please contact your veterinarian for a complete list.

She should visit the veterinarian several times in the first year for shots, boosters and check up. Then, as an adult, she should visit the veterinarian yearly for shots and check up. As she gets older, six years and on, she should visit the veterinarian twice a year for check ups and shots. Remember; avoid feeding your dog sweets.

*Grooming. The Weimaraner has an easy care sleek, short and smooth coat that feels like heaven to the touch. She should be brushed regularly and rubbed down with a chamois to make her coat shine. Brushing will help her maintain a clean and healthy coat, help you keep a closer eye on her health and strengthen your emotional bond with her.

Her teeth should be brushed at least twice a week with toothpaste and toothbrush designed for dogs. Brushing removes the accumulation of plaque and tartar which can cause cavities (rarely) and periodontal disease. Dog periodontal disease can lead to pain, loss of teeth, bad breath and other serious disease.

Her toenails may need to be examined for growth and clipped regularly. The toenails of the rear feet grow slower than the toenails of the front feet.

Tips On Building Model Planes

These tips will help you to build plastic model planes. 1. When you get your model plane kit make sure that you wash all the parts properly with soap and water as plastic parts are made by injection molding and are covered with a chemical that is used to release the parts from the injection mold. If not removed by washing, this chemical will prevent proper paint adhesion to the model. Dry the parts using a hair dryer after you wash them.

2. The first thing to assemble and paint should be the cockpit as this would be enclosed permanently in the fuselage halves and it will be practically impossible to paint it later.

3. Use only a minimum amount of glue. You should try using only a thin line of glue around the fuselage and on the sides of the wings. If you find it difficult to control the amount of glue, try using a pin for applying it. If not controlled during application excess glue will form lumps on the external surface that will require finishing with sandpaper.

4. Alignment is of paramount importance during assembly. All your efforts will be in vain if the result is a crooked airplane. The wings and tail should be perfectly aligned with the fuselage. The best way would be to use tape for holding the big pieces together to check their alignment before glue is applied.

5. Many times you can observe gaps between fashion coats online the pieces that have been glued together. More often such gaps will be found between the fuselage halves or at joints between the wings and the fuselage. Just fill these gaps with putty or super glue and finish the surface with sandpaper once the filler dries out.

6. (a) If you are brush painting your model plane make sure that you have at least three brush sizes, wide medium and fine with you before you start painting. Never overlap brush strokes or try repainting any area that is still wet. If another coat is necessary, wait until the first coat dries out before applying the next one. When you finish painting clean your brushes with thinner and stack them upright in some old tin or cup.

(b) When painting with spray cans you may find that the flow slows down after some time. This is because the can cools down. The remedy is to place the can in warm water for about ten minutes before using it again.

(c) Though a bit costly, if you have an airbrush it is best as it will let you control the paint volume and air pressure letting you paint fine lines as desired.

7. The clear plastic canopy of your model plane has a frame that needs to be painted. A good way is to cover the whole canopy with masking tape and use a sharp blade to cut and remove the tape only from the frame, which can then be painted and left to dry. After the paint dries, remove the rest of the tape from the canopy.

8. Apply a coat of clear gloss overcoat over the paint to give your plane a shiny look. Once the gloss coat dries, you can apply the decals, which will now look much better on the glossy surface. It the plane has a naturally flat surface you can apply a clear flat coat after you apply the decals.
